טייגר וודס נפצע בתאונת דרכים קשה

הלם בארה"ב. טייגר וודס, משחקני הגולף הגדולים בכל הזמנים, עבר תאונת דרכים קשה היום (שלישי) כשסטה עם רכבו בלוס אנג'לס. נכון לשעה זו נראה כי לא נשקפת סכנה לחייו, אך ידוע כי הוא מאושפז בבית החולים עם מספר פציעות ברגלו. כוחות החילוץ נאלצו להשתמש בציוד מכני בכדי להוציאו מרכבו. סוכנו של וודס, מארק סטיינברג אישר: "טייגר נפגע וכרגע עובר ניתוח".

שחקן הגולף היה היחיד ששהה ברכבו במהלך התאונה. על פי הדיווחים, בשעה 7:12 בבוקר וודס סטה מהדרך והתהפך. כפי שניתן לראות בסרטון, מכוניתו ספגה נזק משמעותי במיוחד וכריות האוויר נפתחו. על מנת להוציאו ממנה נאלצו מכבי האש והפרמדיקים לחלצו באמצעות כלי שנקרא "מלתעות החיים", בו משתמשים כאשר אין אפשרות לפתוח את הרכב ידנית.

וודס נחשב לאחד משחקני הגולף הגדולים, המפורסמים והמשפיעים בכל הזמנים. באמתחתו חמישה תארי מאסטרס, ארבע אליפויות PGA, שלוש US OPEN ועוד שלוש אליפויות פתוחות. לצד 82 תארים בסך הכל בקריירה הענפה שלו, הוא נבחר 11 פעמים כשחקן השנה בסבב ה-PGA, שיא כל הזמנים, והחזיק הכי הרבה שבועות כראשון בדירוג העולמי (683). הצלחתו המקצועית האדירה הביאה עימה גם שגשוג כלכלי, כשהפך לספורטאי הראשון בהיסטוריה ששווה מעל למיליארד דולרים.
