חברת 2K יצאה בהכרזה מפתיעה: החל מהעדכון האחרון של המשחק NBA 2K PLAYGROUNDS 2, מעבר למפה חדשה ואייטמים חדשים למשחק, שחקני המחשב האישי, הנינטנד סוויץ' והאקס בוקס יוכלו לשחק יחדיו בקרוס פלטפורם. החדשות הרעות הן שלא מדובר במשחק הדגל של החברה - NBA 2K שיוצא באופן שנתי, וגפ סוני, כהרגלה, נשארת בחוץ ולא קופצת על ההזדמנות לאפשר לשחקנים לשחק מול קונסולות מתחרות ברשת. חבל.
